Committee of Stewards Meeting Sept. 2, 2008, 7:00 PM

Call to Order
Bonnie Brown, acting Chair, called the meeting to order in the name of Jesus Christ, the one and only Head of the Church, and followed with the Opening Prayer.
Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved with two additions under New Business
Minutes
Ann McDougall moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be adopted as presented. Seconded by Denny Buchanan. Carried.
Business Arising
1) Don Coleman reported on the Action Plan that we now owe $3000.00 on our loan.
2) Denny Buchanan moved that we ask for 50% of the food costs at the time of booking an event, with no refund given if there is a cancellation less than two weeks prior to the event. Seconded by Linda Brown. Carried.
3) Donna Smith reported that the Lions Pancake breakfast netted $230.00 for the church.
4) Bonnie Brown reported that the Festival Fish Fry brought in $1330.00 which was considerably less than last year. The cost of fish was higher, and we ran out, although less than 10 people were turned away. We also ran out of creamy coleslaw, but had extra buns and potato salad.
5) We reviewed the tasks assigned for the September Fish Fry. Denny Buchanan will have the potatoes at the church for 9:00 AM Thursday, September 18.
6) Ann McDougall reported that ticket sales were going well for the Quilt Raffle. She asked for suggestions for new venues to sell tickets. Linda Brown will try Westport, and the congregation will be asked to sell one more book each. It was suggested that advertising for the Quilt Show include local and Kingston libraries.
7) Linda Brown will chair the Apple Pie Making Bee on Thursday, October 2, and will book the church with Judy.
8) There was no report on the Carrot Pudding Bee.
9) Don Coleman showed us a copy of the signs he will get done for the parking lot.
10) There was further discussion of holding a Pig Roast next fall (2009) instead of a second Fish Fry. Donna Smith will talk to the Lloyds at the Sept. Fish Fry to find a date that they could do it.

Don Coleman did not make a motion for acceptance as his report was incomplete.

Maintenance and Renovations Don Coleman mentioned a leak in the Sanctuary occurred during the summer. As the church roof is almost one hundred years old (2010) we will need to replace it soon. Bonnie Brown is concerned about the quilt hanging in that area.
New Business
1) Linda Brown requested articles from the Stewards for the next Newsletter. They should get to her by Monday, September 8.
2) Ann McDougall asked for feedback on the labeling in the kitchen. Since there were no complaints, she and Glenda Turner will complete the job.
Calendar Update
The next Official Board Meeting will be held on Monday, September 22 at Trinity at 7PM.
The next Stewards Meeting is Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 7PM in the Fellowship Hall.
We ended with our Closing Prayer and the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 PM.
