Call to Order

Approval of Agenda

The agenda was approved with three additions under New Business.

Minutes

Ann McDougall moved and Wanda Asselstine seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be adopted as read. Carried.

Business Arising

 1) It was decided that our special giving envelopes should only go out 2 times this year; at Anniversary Sunday and at Christmas.

2) Lynda Boulter reported that the Loyalist Area Scout Banquet will be held at Bath this   year, not at Trinity.

3) A Night in Tunisia travelogue brought in $75.00 which will go to the Food Grains project. Thanks to Doug and Lynda Boulter for an enjoyable evening.

4) Linda Brown gave an update on the Anniversary Weekend. There will be a choral concert on Friday, June 7th, our congregational dinner on Sat. June 8th and a guest speaker for the Sunday service. John McDougall and Linda will continue to work on the details.

5) There has been no word about the Proposal/Petition regarding the increase in our assessment.

6) After some discussion around labeling kitchen cupboards, Denny Buchanan moved that we adopt the labeling and evaluate it within the year. Linda Brown seconded. Carried. Ann McDougall will work with Glenda Turner on the size and font of lettering.

7) We spent time discussing the September Fish Fry, and decided it was a worthwhile fundraiser. Don Coleman will check with the Lloyds who supply and cook the fish, to see if Sept. 26th would work for them. October 3rd would be our second choice.

8) The Crafts and Conversation group notified us that they will be staying at the Free Methodist church and will not need our facilities next year.

Treasurers Report

Don Coleman gave his report and made a motion for acceptance. Bonnie Brown seconded. Carried.

Counters for March

March 9 – Linda Brown

March 16 – Wanda Asselstine

March 23 – Ann McDougall

March 30 – Denny Buchanan

Lynda Boulter gave each Steward a copy of the Procedures For Counting Sunday Offering by Don Coleman.

Correspondence

Lynda Boulter read a letter from John McDougall and the Verona and District Health Services Committee thanking Stewards for waiving the rental fee for the Fellowship Hall.

Maintenance

Carl Turner will check the outlet on the south wall of the kitchen and also the light in the upstairs hall.

New Business

1) There has been a rental request for the Fellowship hall, for May 25, 2008. Heather Code is hosting a 90th birthday party for her mother, Inez Code. Dorina Friedli moved and Bonnie Brown seconded that we waive the rental fee for this occasion. Carried.

2) Jean Clair has requested that we cater a roast beef dinner on November 15, 2008. This was a welcome request as we had decided not to hold a Roast Beef Dinner as a fundraiser this year. Details will be discussed later.

3) The Secretary will write a thank you note to Darlene Nicols and the UCW who found and donated luncheon plates for use at Trinity United.

4) Jennifer Bennett notified us that she will be starting a Community Choir next Fall and would like to use the church hall on Wednesday evenings from 7pm – 10pm. She will book the hall through Judy in the office.

5) Don Coleman will write a letter to Maryl Hughes replying to her concern about the financial report in the Annual Report.

6) Wanda Asselstine questioned whether the Caretaker would be paid extra in consideration of all the snow we have had this winter. This is something the Ministry and Personnel will have to decide.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall.

We ended with a silent prayer, and Lynda Boulter adjourned the meeting at 8:30pm.
