COMMITTEE OF STEWARDS MEETING  

February 5, 2008 7.00 pm

Call to Order   

Lynda Boulter called the meeting to order in the name of Jesus Christ, the one and only Head of the Church. This was followed by the opening prayer.

Agenda

Linda Brown moved that the agenda be approved, seconded by Don Coleman. Carried.  

Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Ann McDougall, who moved a motion for acceptance. Seconded by Dorina Friedli. Carried.


Business arising from the minutes.

1. Don showed us a letter with an update of the financial statement, which will go out to the congregation for Easter. Also included will be an invitation to Easter services, and income tax receipts.

2. Dorina Friedli will be the liaison for Deborah Spaar-Mueller who is working on a fundraiser for her 50th birthday next September, 2008.

3. Lynda Boulter gave us a copy of the information she sent to Harold Dalmas regarding the Loyalist Area Banquet and Awards Ceremony. We will wait for his reply.

4. Doug Boulter has suggested any money raised at his Night in Tunisia Travelogue be given to 3rd world outreach through the Mission and Service Fund.

5. The Gospel according to St. Mark presentation will be a Joint Pastoral Charge fundraiser.

6. Trinity United received the following articles from Kingscourt United Church when they closed a photocopier, a piano stool, a vacuum cleaner and a ladder.

7. Lynda Boulter reported that the Wake-up Breakfasts had been a big success. Not only did we raise $689.00 but a great sense of community developed during the 5 weeks they were held. It was decided we should take this on again next January.

8. Linda Brown talked about the events to celebrate Black History Month.

    a) A talk by Andrew and Jeanine Van Heyst after church on February 10th about their experiences in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Linda will have books and videos to look at or borrow.

      b) The Grandmother Connection at St. Pauls on Feb. 24th.    

 
9. Linda Brown and John McDougall will work together on Anniversary Weekend, June 7 &8

2. Lynda Boulter mentioned the proposal/petition from Cookes-Portsmouth United regarding our assessment of 10%. Our Presbytery representatives Darlene Nicol and Gayle Robertson will get back to us regarding this matter.

3. Lynda Boulter had a letter from John McDougall requesting that the fee for the Fellowship Hall be waived for the Verona and District Health Services Committee. Don Coleman moved and Bonnie seconded this motion. Carried.

4. The suggestion to use Lenten cards was postponed until next year, when we could plan well ahead and perhaps tie it in with the Minute for Mission.

5. The kitchen inventory will be typed up by Doug Boulter to be kept in the manual. Ann McDougall and Dorina Friedli will do an inventory of the downstairs kitchen as well. Regarding labeling of the cupboards, Linda Brown moved that we have Glenda Turner come to our next meeting with information. Seconded by Denny Buchanan. Carried.

6. Ann McDougall will write thank you notes to Doug Boulter for all his work for Stewards, particularly for his computer work for posters, calendars, and signs, and also to Tom Revell for his donation of a coffee maker which worked well at our Breakfasts. Lynda Boulter will write Marg Campsall thanking her for her 3 years on the Board of Stewards.

7.  Don Coleman moved and Linda Brown seconded that we accept the offer of $120.00 by the Crafts and Conversation group for their use of the Fellowship Hall on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon, two times a month from September to May. Carried.

 

Calendar Update

.We did a quick run through the calendar updating fundraising events, and will look at this again next month.

Next Meeting Tuesday, March 4, 2008 @ 7pm in the Memorial room.

 

We concluded with our closing prayer, and Lynda adjourned the meeting at 8:55pm.
