Committee of Stewards Meeting, April 1, 2008 7pm

 

 

Attendees

Wanda Asselstine, Lynda Boulter, Bonnie Brown, Linda Brown, Denny Buchanan, Don Coleman, Marilyn Duffe, Ann McDougall.

 

Call to Order

Lynda Boulter called the meeting to order in the name of Jesus Christ the one and only Head of the Church, and followed with the opening prayer.

 

Approval of Agenda

The agenda was approved as presented.

 

Minutes

Ann McDougall moved and Wanda Asselstine seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be adopted as presented. Carried.

 

Business Arising

1) Anniversary Weekend.

 Linda Brown reported that there will be a flier in the bulletin next Sunday, regarding sign-up for the dinner.

A letter from John McDougall requested that Stewards decide where the money from the Melodia Monday concert should go. Marilyn Duffe moved and Denny Buchanan seconded that it go to the pay- down- the- debt campaign. Carried.

2) The Official Board will examine the May budget of ‘ Presbytery regarding our assessment, and make a decision concerning our response at that time.

3) Ann McDougall reported that the labeling in the kitchen will be done sometime this month.

4) Lynda Boulter is in touch with Heather Code regarding the Birthday party for Inez on May 31, 2008. (Stewards in charge of catering)

5) Lynda Boulter reported that Jean Clair has made a first payment for the roast beef dinner in November.

6) The Secretary will write a letter to Darlene Nicol and the UCW thanking them for the luncheon plates they found and donated to Trinity United Church.

7) Lynda Boulter and the Stewards updated the fundraising plans for the year. We have a busy year ahead! Don Coleman will call the Lloyds again to see what the cost would be for Fish and Chips, instead of just fish for the September Fish Fry.

8) Don Coleman wrote a letter which was both thoughtful and positive which he will send to Maryl Hughes regarding the Annual Report Concern.

9) Lynda Boulter reported that the Hall Manager, Joyce Casement is happy with what we pay her, and does not want any additional bonuses.

 

Treasurers Report

Don Coleman presented his March report and made a motion for acceptance. Seconded by Linda Brown. Carried.

Correspondence

John McDougall requested information regarding the Special Envelopes. How much money was taken in? Was it a successful campaign? Don Coleman will discuss this with John, who is co-chair of the Fundraising Committee.

 

Maintenance and Renovations

There was nothing to report.

 

New Business

1) A group will meet together at Trinity on Saturday AM April 19th to assemble the refreshments for The Gospel According to St. Mark.

2) Lynda Boulter and Don Coleman will promote the You to Youth campaign in church for the remaining Sundays in April ( 6, 13, 20, 27)

3) The May Pie Sale promotions will begin on April 19th, with posters and advertising.

4) Lynda Boulter alerted us to the Steward’s Fellowship on May 18th which will be planned at our next meeting.

5) Ann McDougall discussed the Quilt Show and Raffle to be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Suggestions were given regarding ticket prices and sales.

6) We discussed the Trinity Information Booklet and Leaflet that Rev. Lynda Price had sent out.

 

Calendar Update

Lynda Boulter reminded us of the Official Board Meeting on Monday, April 21st at St. Paul’s.

 

Next Meeting will be Tuesday, May 6, 2008 @ 7pm in the Memorial Room.

 

We ended with a silent prayer, and the meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm.
