TRINITY UNITED CHURCH COMMITTEE OF STEWARDS MEETING OCTOBER 6, 2009

 

Attendees

Rachael Henry, Glenda Turner,  Ann McDougall, Linda Brown, Diane Buchanan, Dorina Friedl, Connie Shibley and Jennifer Bennett.

Regrets- Don Coleman, Jane and Andy Adamson       A quorum was present.

 

1.  Call to Order

Ann McDougall called the meeting to order in the name of Jesus Christ, the one and only Head of the Church at 7:13 p.m. 

 

2. Ann McDougall lead the meeting with the  opening prayer.

 

3.  Approval of Agenda - Moved by Jen Bennett and seconded by Linda Brown that the  agenda be approved with two additions.  Carried.

 

4.  Minutes - Moved by Glenda Turner and seconded by Rachael Henry that the September 1, 2009 minutes  be accepted with two corrections.  Under correspondence, There are a not-for-profit should read they are not-for-profit.  Also under maintenance The present roof is original should read The present roof is the original.  Carried.

 

5.  Business arising from the minutes

            a) Pancake Breakfast at Lions Hall/Sept.26 - Three shift were arranged and a profit of $315. was realized.  Glenda Turner will send a thank you to the Lions for this event.

 

            b) Apple Pie Bee/Oct. 6 - 84 pies and several shells were made with a total of 17 helpers.  Glenda Turner will send a thank to Kim Perry for her peelers and corer.

 

            c) Ruth and Don Brown's 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration - a successful celebration

           

            d) Pig Roast/October 24th - John McDougall will report later

 

Treasurer's Report - Ann McDougall presented the report.  Moved by Diane Buchanan and seconded by Connie Shibley that the Treasurer's Report be accepted as presented.  Carried.

 

7.  Counters for September and October 4

                                                October 18 - Ann will bring the envelopes from St. Paul's

                                                October 25 - Linda Brown

                                                November 1 - Jane Adamson

 

8. Correspondence - None

 

9.  Maintenance and Renovations - Concern was expressed about the sanctuary entrance.

 

10.  New Business

            a) Scout Dinner/March/April 2010.  Moved by Linda Brown and seconded by Diane Buchanan that we say yes to this dinner for 60-80 people.  Jen Bennett and Ann McDougall will work out menus and prices.

           

            b) Work is being done on the sidewalk sign.

 

            c) Lynda Price asked about a new TV/DVD player but at the moment the present ones are working fine.

 

            d) Special Christmas Offering envelopes will be discussed at our next meeting.

 

            e) Discussion will be held next meeting about how to improve the stewardship of Trinity United Church.  One suggestion was a coffee hour with a Times and Talents sheet.

 

            f) Whale of a Sale/May 22, 2010  - Moved by Jen Bennett and seconded by Connie Shibley that the sale be held May 22.  The Pie Sale will take place May 8, 2010.

 

11. Next meeting - November 3, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m.

 

12. Closing Prayer - Ann McDougall led the stewards in the closing prayer.

 

13.  Adjournment at 8:30 p.m.
