2008:
Barb
Joyce/John McDougall, moved the adoption of these minutes as printed and
circulated. Carried
BILL CAMPSALL, VISITOR:
Bill
Campsall, announced to Session, that he and his wife Margaret Campsall, would
pay for all the refurbishing of the Second,
North East,
Window, in the Sanctuary, and Don
Coleman, Treasurer, would get the monies, as soon as this project
started/finished. When the window is finished, he wants a dedication plaque on
it, “Bill and Margaret Campsall, and Family.” We thanked Bill, and he left the
meeting.
BUSINESS
ARISING:
a) Membership update and visitation set-up –
Lynda Price circulated the
new lists,
and then each session member took nine to ten families for
visitations, etc.
b) Sanctuary windows update – Millie Cuthill
will ask Lucy Spain, who the
person was
at The Glass House, that gave her the quotes. With this
info, John
McDougall, volunteered to speak to them, to find out if more
than one
window was repaired at one time, and if the windows could be
repaired,
(this kind of weather) would it be cheaper. John will also
look for
samples of plaques.
Note – we also stated, if the
wood casing around a window needed
replacing/repairs, this amount, would be paid by the donor.
c) Lay Reader List – has been completed.
d) Stair-trac training dates – will report
next meeting.
CORRESPONDENCE:
a) Millie Cuthill sent cards of appreciation to Andy
Adamson and Ralph
McInnes,
for their years of dedicated service to Session.

meetings;
1 wedding meeting; usually weekly meetings with Annabelle
Twiddy, and Erin Burns.

d) Easter Service Set-up – Millie Cuthill
said, she would see that the
Cross has
wire on it, and have it set up for the Easter Service. She
will also
see about getting the flowers to go on it.
For the
refreshments after the Sunrise Service, John McDougall will
put on the
coffee, Lynda Price and Elfleda Watson will bring muffins,
and
Darlene Nicol will bring hard boiled eggs.
. Lynda
Price passed out photocopies of Church Governance Booklets.
We suggested committee members names and phone
numbers, from both churches should be included in this booklet.
. Lynda
had two reports from today’s Kingston Presbytery Executive
meeting.
1) that
the Watkins Fund is available to any Church, pertaining to
a
Senior’s project.
2) Thursday, June 5th, “Sharing
the Vision” at Sydenham St. U.C.;
Seeleys Bay U.C.; or Mallorytown U.C.; a
follow up to “Alive
& Well,” re: purpose, goals, co-operation, not amalgamation.
(speak to Lynda Price for more information)
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:
The Sunday School seems to have enough helpers at
the present time.
OUTREACH:
Family Fun Nights have been well attended, and there
will be another one
March 28th, and April 18th.
Note – For several years now Bay of Quinte Conference has had
an agreement with Criterion Pictures and Audio Cine Films Inc to cover the cost
of an annual video license.
The good news is that we have reached an agreement
that is very exciting because it means churches even those with small members
can purchase a license without a huge amount. Combined cost for both companies
to cover
congregations with Bay of Quinte Conference will be
$l.00 per person based on average Sunday attendance as reported in 2006 Year
Book.
License effective January 1st, 2008 to December 31st, 2008, can
be renewed
each year. Harrowsmith/Verona
Pastoral Charge has purchased this license
at $111.00, so
we can now legally show movies, on Fun Night, etc.
NEW BUSINESS:
a) Greeter’s List – we will finish filling in next
month when we have
our two
new Session Members, Ruth Brown and Marg Smith.
b) Gospel of Mark Presentation by Mathew Gibson,
Sat. April 19th, 7 p.m.
at St.
Paul’s – Trinity will do the Refreshments.
c) Update from John McDougall on Fund-raising – John
says that on Fri.
June 6th,
a special Choir will be performing, at no charge to us, but
we will be
selling tickets for this event.
d) Lynda Price informed us that Cookes/Portsmouth
Church in Kingston,
is
proposing as many people as possible to come to March, Presbytery
meeting,
as they have a petition asking Conference to reassess its
budget. Apparently
church assessment fees are to go up dramatically
in 2009,
which will affect many churches.(Lynda said, if we agree, we
could probably get a petition ready for
April Presbytery meeting,
therefore,
it would be passed on so Conference would have it for
their annual meeting the end of May, when the
final decision is made)
e) Anniversary Sunday – Rev. Nancy Hardy, from
Toronto, will be the
guest
speaker. (Session agreed next meeting to help John McDougall
plan the
Anniversary Luncheon after the service)
f) Covenanting Service with new members of Session
and Stewards, will be
Sunday,
April 6th, 2008.
Note – when we met with
Stewards, they informed us that there will be a
special Easter Offering envelope, and also one for
Anniversary in June.
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, April 1st,
2008, at 7 p.m.
ADJOURNED: 8:30 P.M.
