CHURCH SESSION MEETING
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
WELCOME:
Millie
Cuthill, Chairperson, constituted the meeting in the name of Jesus Christ the
only Head of the Church, at 7:06 p.m.
MEMEBERS PRESENT:

AGENDA:
Two
items were added under New Business; H1N1 Flu; and Children’s Space in the
Sanctuary.

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2009:

Joyce/Marg Smith moved the adoption of these minutes as printed and circulated. Carried
BUSINESS ARISING FROM
MINUTES:
a) Trinity Brochure – we went over
it and made several correction, and feel it can be reprinted and placed in the
church, and other outlets such as The Farmers Market Store; Post Office’s; etc.
John
McDougall presented a small “Welcome Bag” which Sharon Sole, had received when
she visited Edith Rankin Memorial UC, which contained, a church brochure,
Canadian Bible book marks, tea bag and a couple of Hersey Kisses (with a
couples little rhymes.)We thought this very appropriate, and decided we would
prepare some bags, and whoever is greeter that Sunday, give one to the
visitor(s)as they leave the church.
b) Dead Sea Scrolls’
Bus Trip
– is November 4th, $99.00, 40 seat bus, meet at 38 Hwy Car Pool;
first come, first served. (contact Annabelle if you wish more info)
CORRESPONDENCE:
WORSHIP AND SACRAMENT:
a) Minister’s Report – since last
meeting Lynda Price has done 17 visits;
4 meetings; conducted one
funeral; conducted one wedding; gave a presentation to the UCW Fall Rally at
Edith Rankin Memorial UC; met with one couple re renewal of wedding vows and
conducted the service; conducted Harrowsmith Cemetery Service; Wednesday
evening study group has started, - 10 people – meeting every Wednesday evening.
b) Working on – St. Paul’s
Anniversary, October 18th,
- Preliminary planning for
Advent/Christmas
- Proposal from Annabelle and Lynda
Note – this
proposal was a folder(s) re World Vision, for both churches to get involved in
a fun raising of monies, to purchase hens, goats, cows, medicine, etc, for adults and children in under
privileged countries.
We discussed this, and being Christmas is in a couple of months, we would give
the brochure to the Sunday School, and if they would like to get involved in
this project, we would give them our full support.
c) Study Leave – Lynda will be
on Study Leave October 19th to 26th. She will attend 3
day Conference at Queens Theological College, and other days be preparing
Advent Services. Stephen Ambury will be covering for Pastoral Care.
d) Report from Joint
Worship Committee

Nov. 8th, Remembrance Sunday, will ask children to stand with
veterans
during candle lighting

Nov. 22nd, Children’s Sunday, hope to have children reading

Advent Services
. Plan
to have carol singing prior to services in Dec.
. Nov. 29th, Advent 1, combined service at St. Paul’s,
choral concert
and communion

. Dec. 13th, Advent 3, International Christmas Customs
. Dec. 20th,
Advent 4, probably children’s pageant, yet to be confirmed
with Sunday
School

24th, Christmas Eve – 7:00 p.m. Family Service St. Paul’s
- 9:00 p.m. Communion Trinity
MEMBERSHIP PASTORAL CARE:
a) Visitation of our
“Shut ins”
– hopefully session members will do some visitations, and Lynda said, next week
she has extra visitations planned.
b) Country Care
Home, Godfrey – Lynda will contact the home, to see if they
would like
Trinity to do a service and visitations.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:
OUTREACH:
The Playgroup Breakfast for
Mom’s and Tot’s on Oct. 2nd, was a success. The next one will be
held on Fri. Nov. 6th, 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. and on Fri. Dec. 4th.
Sausages, Bacon, Pancakes
and Toast will be served. If you are able to help, please contact Millie
Cuthill.
NEW BUSINESS:
a) Dedication of
Windows
– Nov. 1st, (Andy & Dorothy McCulloch)
b) Katharine Hennig – will speak to
the Sunday School children re writing letters to the soldiers (beginning in
Dec.)
c) Decorating for
Thanksgiving – will take place 9 a.m. Fri. morning.
d) H1N1 – a large folder
of info was send from UC (head office) and John McDougall condensed the most
important info. We annualized, and each one has a copy for our records (if/when
needed)
e) Children’s Space
in Sanctuary – postponed to next meeting.
