1. The meeting was opened by the chair Rob Christie with the
Constitution of the Court
and Brenda Crawford
followed with a prayer. Glenda Turner
will lead the opening
worship at the next
meeting.
2. Moved by Donna Walker and seconded by Nancy Moore Carr that the
agenda be adopted.
Carried.
3. Moved by John McDougall
and seconded by Don Wolsey that the minutes of April 21, 2008
be accepted. Carried.
4. Business arising.
a) Don Coleman reported
that our churches rejected participation in the
United Church of Canada's centralized payroll plan. Word has been sent to this effect but
there has been no reply.
b) the manse insurance will continue
with the same company
c) Don Coleman reported that a new
photocopier is in the office. It cost
$1,000. to close
the contract but will reduce the budget by $1,000. by next year. The per copy price is half
of the previous copying
d) Donna Walker agreed to making a manse
report and it will be
attached to our minutes.
e) Liz Hughson and John McDougall
submitted a request for a grant
for improvements and modernization.
There was no money available at the time but will
submit another request.
5. There was no
correspondence.
6. Lynda Price reported
there will be a meeting Oct. 9 - 1:30 for ideas and plans for families to
have a less stressful
time
Thanksgiving at Trinity
- dedication of 4 windows
Oct. 19th - Don Bailey
will be preaching
Oct. 27 Lynda will
have a study leave (Rural Ministry Symposium)
Erin Burns will
preach Nov. 2
Lynda Price will be
the guest speaker for the closing service at Queen St. United Church
7. Moved by Don Coleman
and seconded by Ann McDougall that the Treasurer's Report
be accepted. Carried.
8. M&P have met twice
and our secretary Judy has tendered her resignation.
Motion - On behalf of
the Ministry and Personnel Committee, I make the motion that
a Search Committee be
struck with the Nominating Committees of each church seeking 2
representatives for
this committee. Moved by Elaine Lazier
and seconded by Marni
Pederson. Carried.
9. Manse Committee - Donna
Walker reported that a pump in the basement needs repairing.
Brenda Crawford
reported that the Resource Centre at Queen St. has shown some interest
in using the manse for
this purpose. Further details are
needed. Donna Walker will check
on the status of the
Manse Committee members and will report to Millie Cuthill.
10. Stewardship - No action.
11. Joint Worship
Committee met last week and have set dates for the upcoming season.
12. Presbytery - Darlene
Nicol reported the Presbytery will meet Oct. 21 in Delta
Lynda Price will
chair the October and November meetings.
13. Trinity Session -
Millie Cuthill reported that a pew was removed from the Sanctuary for
wheelchairs, a stair
climber has been purchased, Sunday School ended May 25th, Church
Picnic was held at
Trinity due to rain, a funeral reception was held Sept. 10th, 4 new
window renovations
have been completed at a cost of $2140. per window, a card has
been placed in the
pews for user friendliness for children in the congregation.
14. Trinity Stewards -
Lynda Boulter reported that a letter is sent to the congregation at
Anniversary time to
request donations, thanks to all involved in the You to Youth Campaign
pie sale sold out by
11:00 a.m. Deborah Spaar's fundraiser,
Whale of a Sale, Pancake
Breakfast and 2 Fish
Fry were successful. Changes have been
made to the Cancellation
Policy for
catering. A Quilt Sale will be held
Oct. 18th. Thanks to the Friedls for
paving
the parking
lot. A donation was made for catering
for Gwen Leonard's birthday party.
There will be 3 new
signs in the parking lot for Lynda Price, Annabelle Twiddy and a
handicap spot. Thanks was received from the Lions Club for
the donation of salt and
pepper shakers. The sanctuary is in need of repairs. Pies are being made and selling $8.
15. Trustees - John
McDougall reported that a request has gone to the Early Years Group for
a request for
physical plant items, etc.
16. United Church Women -
Darlene Nicol reported that the Fall Rally is to be held Oct. 5
at Conway, Mid Week
Event will be Oct. 29th in Cobourg, calendars, friendship pins
and snow-flake pins
are for sale, a meeting will be held in October
17. Sunday School - A
request for a Nursery person was made in June but with the help of
Tracy Peters and
Sarah Norman the problem is solved.
18. St. Paul's Council -
Brenda Crawford and Donna Walker reported that in conjunction
with Trousdale
Funeral Home, lunches have been supplied and have raised $2,900 since
June, Tuesday
lunches will commence in October, the play group will not continue to
meet at St. Pauls.,
Oct. 19th is Anniversary, Sept. 27 - Gospel Sing, Craft Sale - Nov. 8th
the Newsletter will
be available Sept. 28th
19. St. Paul's Trustees -
No report
20. New Business - Don
Coleman reported on the implications of Summer Worship Closings
and he reported that
financially it would not be a good idea.
Each congregation was to
take it to their
individual Congregational meetings.
Our next meeting
will be held Nov. 24 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Pauls.
