1. Constitution of the Court - The
meeting was opened by the chair, Jennifer Bennett, with the Constitution of the Court at 7:05 p.m. A quorum was not present but the meeting continued
on.
2. Opening Worship - Linda Brown led the
worship and a prayer by e. e. cummings
Gayle Robertson volunteered to
prepare the worship for September
3. Agenda - Moved by Gayle Robertson and
seconded by Millie Cuthill that the
agenda be accepted as
prepared. Carried.
4. Acceptance of Minutes - Moved by Rob
Christie and seconded by Elaine Lazier
that the minutes be
accepted as read by Glenda Turner.
Carried.
5. Business Arising from the Minutes -
Linda Brown thanked the people of St. Pauls who helped with the Easter breakfast at Trinity.
6. Correspondence - None
7. Minister's
Report - Lynda Price reported that she will be doing the last section of
the Rural Ministry Course. The Pastoral Oversight group will meet with
the Official Board on September 28th at Trinity. Moved by Linda Brown and seconded by Dorina Friedli that our
church purchase 17 weeks of special events bulletins (a reduction from last
year). Other Sundays we will use the
joint covers created by Don Coleman and a call to both congregations for new
bulletin covers to be submitted and approved by the Joint Worship Committee and
Don Coleman. Future combined services will be May 24 St. Paul's, Aug. 23, Nov.
29 St. Paul's and Dec. 27 Trinity.
8. Treasurer's Report and Website -
Moved by Don Coleman and seconded by Elaine Lazier that the treasurer's report
be accepted as prepared. Carried. Don also reported that each week the
bulletin is put on the website and also the newsletters when ready. A counter
will be added to our website in order to see how many hits there are.
9. Committee
Reports
Ministry
and Personnel - Elaine Lazier reported that the committee has met 3 times since
the last Official Board meeting. Moved
by Elaine Lazier and seconded by Don Coleman that support and approval be given
for Jennifer Bennett and Gayle Roberston to continue to sit on the M & P
Committee while fulfilling their responsibilities as Chairs of their respective
committees, trusting that they will step down from M&P should any conflict
of interest arise. Carried.
Congregation
members will be conducting services on May 24, Aug. 23 and UCW in October.
Paid
pulpit supply will be provided Aug. 2, 9 and 16th. Moved by Elaine Lazier and seconded by Linda Brown that May 24th
be a joint service. Carried. Katharine
Hennig has successfully completed her 3-month probationary period with us.
Manse
- No report.
Joint
Worship - They will be meeting again soon.
Trinity
Reports -Session - Millie Cuthill reported that Vera Brown and Barb Stewart are
new members of Session. Four new
windows for the sanctuary will be installed soon with the Memorial money being
used. UCW has offered to supply
sanitizers for the sanctuary and when serving meals. The Scouts Good Friday Pancake Breakfast was successful. Easter cards were sent to all members. Melodia Monday concert will be held April 25
at 7:30. Frontenac Women's Chorus will
be held May 3 and Pie Sale will be held May 9th. Lois Wilson will be our guess speaker at our June 14th
anniversary service.
Stewards
- Thanks was extended to Linda Brown and Marni Pederson for organizing the
Easter Sunday Breakfast.
St.
Paul's Council - Work is required on the stain glass windows and frames. A Turkey
Dinner is being held April 25, 4:30 - 6:30. Construction is taking place in the minister's study and
secretary's office.
10. New Business - A review of our
Mission Statement is required. A couple
of volunteers will be requested in the bulletin and Newsletter.
